Rome, Oct 13 (V7N) – Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, arrived in Rome on Sunday afternoon to attend the annual World Food Forum organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
He landed at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport at around 5 p.m. local time, where Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Italy, A.T.M. Rokebul Haque, received him. The Chief Adviser departed Dhaka earlier in the day at 11:30 a.m. aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
According to the official itinerary, Dr. Yunus will deliver a keynote speech as a distinguished guest at the main session of the forum. He is also scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and heads of several international organizations to discuss global issues including food security, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development.
The World Food Forum, held annually at the FAO headquarters in Rome, serves as a global platform where policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs come together to exchange ideas and develop strategies for building a resilient and sustainable global food system. This year’s event runs from October 10 to 17.
Dr. Yunus’s participation is viewed as a reflection of Bangladesh’s growing diplomatic engagement and leadership in addressing international challenges related to hunger, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture.
He is expected to return to Dhaka on October 15.
