Dhaka, Nov 29 (V7N) — Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur has cautioned that the central bank has been politicized for a long time, which he described as undesirable. He emphasized that the next government must take care to avoid such politicization.

Dr. Mansur made these remarks at the Fourth Bangladesh Economic Conference-2025, organized by Dainik Bonik Barta, held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday morning. The conference focused on various aspects of the country’s economy and business environment.

The governor highlighted several economic points, noting that all margins have been lifted, and the country is not currently facing a dollar crisis. He added that debt instruments are increasing, and while defaulted loans account for 35 percent of total loans, this proportion is expected to decrease gradually. He also stated that there should be no problems with importing goods during Ramadan.

Speakers at the conference pointed out ongoing challenges: business growth is constrained due to high interest rates, the revenue sector lacks proper planning, and the gas-power crisis continues to affect industries. Business leaders stressed that these factors, along with money looted from banks, remain significant obstacles to expanding commerce.
