Dhaka, Dec 21 (V7N)- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is holding a high-level meeting with the chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force on Sunday to review the country’s law and order situation ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The meeting began around 12:00 noon at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon.

Earlier, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, and Air Chief Marshal Hassan Mahmud Khan arrived at the EC Secretariat, where they were formally received by Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

According to sources, the chiefs of the three armed forces first paid a courtesy call on the Election Commission. A formal meeting, chaired by the CEC, is scheduled to begin at around 2:30 pm.

The meeting will be attended by the four election commissioners along with the EC secretary. Key issues on the agenda include the overall law and order situation, recovery of illegal weapons, joint forces’ operations to curb terrorism, and steps to ensure a secure and conducive environment for the upcoming elections.

Election officials said the coordination meeting is part of broader preparations to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election process across the country.
