Dhaka, Feb 8 (V7N) — Chief of Navy Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan on Saturday called for coordinated efforts among the Bangladesh Navy, law enforcement agencies and the civil administration to ensure a free, fair and credible Jatiya Sangsad election and Referendum-2026 scheduled for February 12.
The Navy Chief made the call while visiting Char Fasson and Bhola as part of his nationwide tour ahead of the 13th parliamentary polls, urging all stakeholders to extend full support so that voters can exercise their franchise in a festive and fear-free environment.
According to a statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate, Admiral Nazmul Hassan directed officials to closely monitor the situation at polling centres, maintain law and order and take all necessary measures to ensure voter safety.
During meetings with local officials, special emphasis was placed on inter-agency coordination and comprehensive security arrangements to ensure the elections are conducted peacefully, impartially and fairly.
The ISPR said the Bangladesh Navy is currently deployed in 24 upazilas and two city corporations across 17 parliamentary constituencies under the “In Aid to Civil Power” framework.
Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Civil Surgeons, Additional Deputy Commissioners and District Magistrates, District Election Officers, senior officials from various government departments, representatives of Fire Service and Civil Defence, BIWTA, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, police station officers-in-charge, and senior officials from RAB, Coast Guard, Ansar and the Navy were present at the meetings, among.
