Dhaka, Feb 8 (V7N) — The National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB) under the Ministry of Science and Technology and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in biotechnology and health research.

The MoU was signed on Saturday at the meeting room of the Ministry of Science and Technology at the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to an official press release.

NIB Director General Professor Dr Sagir Ahmed and ICDDR,B Executive Director Dr Tahmid Ahmed signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md Anwar Hossain attended the ceremony as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he described ICDDR,B as a globally reputed institution and said the agreement would create new opportunities for advanced research, knowledge sharing and improved medical services.

He expressed hope that the collaboration would contribute to enhancing the quality of healthcare services for the people of Bangladesh.

Chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, along with additional and joint secretaries of the ministry and senior officials from both organizations, were also present at the event.
