Dhaka, Feb 06 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and National Citizen Party (NCP)–led 11-party alliance candidate for Dhaka-08, Nasiruddin Patwary, today announced his election manifesto, pledging to build a constituency that prioritizes the needs and welfare of its residents.
Speaking at an open-air gathering in front of the Anti-Corruption Commission gate in Segunbagicha, Patwary said his vision is to ensure that “Dhaka-08 truly serves the people,” with policy priorities centered on justice, safety, healthcare, education, employment, civic convenience and environmental protection.
Patwary, who is also the Chief Coordinator of the NCP, said securing justice for the slain former Dhaka-08 candidate Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi would be his foremost priority if elected. He said he would raise the issue in parliament and continue efforts at both national and international levels until justice is achieved.
Outlining his law-and-order agenda, Patwary pledged zero tolerance toward extortion, corruption, drug trafficking, terrorism and illegal occupation of public or private property. He said a confidential complaint mechanism would be introduced to ensure prompt investigation and action.
To enhance public safety, he promised initiatives including anti-drug campaigns, expanded CCTV surveillance, improved street lighting, stronger protection for women and children, and measures to ensure humane treatment of animals.
On healthcare, Patwary said government hospitals, medical colleges and health centers in Dhaka-08 would be made syndicate-free, accessible and equipped with modern facilities. He emphasized cleanliness, adequate staffing, regular vaccination drives, disease prevention programs, and special care for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Education and skill development also featured prominently in his manifesto. He pledged to promote a merit-based, discrimination-free education system, modernize educational infrastructure, introduce advanced computer labs and AI-based training, and encourage entrepreneurship among students.
He also outlined plans for safe recreational spaces for children and youth, along with specialized skill development centers to support job seekers, freelancers and women entrepreneurs through training, workspace and mentorship.
Addressing civic services, Patwary said he would work to improve electricity, gas and water supply, ease traffic congestion through coordinated planning, and ensure efficient access to services such as birth registration, passports, national identity cards and trade licenses.
He further said steps would be taken to ensure fair pricing of essential commodities, formally register street vendors and dismantle syndicate-based market practices.
Environmental sustainability was another key focus, with commitments to modern waste management systems, flood prevention measures and community participation to maintain a clean and livable Dhaka-08.
Concluding his address, Patwary described himself as a public servant and said he would maintain direct and continuous communication with residents through hotlines and ward-based service centers to ensure accountability and effective implementation of his pledges.
