Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, has warmly congratulated Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), on his party’s landslide victory in the 13th National Parliament elections.
He conveyed the congratulatory message in a post on social media platform X on Friday (February 13) morning.
In the post, Modi wrote, “I sincerely congratulate Tarique Rahman for leading BNP to a clear victory in the Bangladeshi parliamentary elections.”
He added, “This victory reflects the confidence of the people of Bangladesh in your leadership. India will continue to support a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh.”
Expressing interest in working with the new government, he said, “I look forward to working with you to further strengthen our multidimensional relations and advance common development goals.”
It is noteworthy that the 13th parliamentary elections and referendum were held across Bangladesh on Thursday (February 12), and the BNP is set to form the government after securing a majority.
