Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N) — State Minister for Education and Dhaka-13 Member of Parliament Bobby Hajjaj has said the government has taken effective initiatives to stop robbery, extortion, and teenage gang violence in the Mohammadpur and Adabor areas of the capital.
He made the remarks on Sunday morning while visiting party leaders and activists receiving treatment at a private hospital in Dhanmondi.
Zero Tolerance on Extortion
Hajjaj said the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) government would not allow anyone to carry out extortion in the party’s name, emphasizing a strict stance against criminal activities.
Allegations Over Election Violence
The minister alleged that rival candidate Mamunul Haque ordered attacks on several polling centers during the February 12 election.

Planned Security Upgrades
To improve law and order in the constituency, Hajjaj announced a set of measures:

Installation of 550 CCTV cameras

Steps to strengthen police capacity after relocation of an army camp
He said these initiatives aim to restore public safety and prevent theft, robbery, and violence in the area.
