Dhaka, Feb 22 (V7N)— Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that teachers will no longer need to take to the streets with their demands, emphasizing that the Prime Minister is giving the highest priority to the Ministry of Education.
He made the remarks at a briefing at the Ministry of Education on Sunday after an exchange of views with the Teachers-Employees Unity Alliance.
Government to Review Teachers’ Demands
The minister said the government would carefully examine teachers’ demands, adding that educators should also outline their commitments to improving the education sector.
Eid Bonus Under Consideration
Regarding the demand for a 100 percent Eid bonus, Milon said the issue would be reviewed and raised with the Prime Minister.
However, he noted that since the matter was not included in the current fiscal year’s budget, further discussions would be required before any decision is made.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption
Responding to allegations about integrity within the administration, the minister reaffirmed his commitment to transparency.
He said that he had taken an oath not to engage in corruption and pledged that no one under his authority would be allowed to do so.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions between the government and education stakeholders over benefits, working conditions, and reforms in the sector.
