SYLHET, Feb 22, (V7N) - Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir has pledged to work relentlessly to uphold religious harmony and ensure social protection in Sylhet.

Speaking as chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with leaders of the Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities at the Sylhet Circuit House, he emphasized unity in thought, spirit and practice. “I am not someone from afar; I am one of you. You will always find me by your side in any need or problem,” he said.

Responding to community demands, Muktadir assured that issues related to mosques, temples, madrasas, pagodas, churches, and other Sylhet-centric concerns would be addressed. He identified unemployment among educated youths as a major challenge and announced initiatives to develop the IT sector, including co-working zones for freelancers, easy repatriation of earnings, and free high-speed internet.

He also revealed plans to construct seven playgrounds in Sylhet Sadar upazila and a central city park to promote sports and recreation. On demands for tea garden schools to be brought under the MPO scheme, he said the government is only four days old but assured that such issues would be resolved.

The meeting was attended by Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Acting President Joul Hasan Qaisel Lodi, General Secretary Emdad Hossain Chowdhury, and leaders from Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities.
