Dhaka, Feb 25 (V7N)- Mostakur Rahman is set to be appointed as the new governor of Bangladesh Bank, according to relevant sources, with an official notification expected to be issued today, Wednesday.
He will replace incumbent governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, who was appointed for a four-year term on August 14, 2024, following the formation of the interim government after the mass student-public uprising.
No Comment from Incumbent
Dr. Mansur was present at his office from morning until noon on Wednesday and held an unscheduled press briefing. However, he did not comment on the possible change in leadership.
Professional Background
Mostakur Rahman is widely regarded as a specialist in corporate finance, export economics, institutional governance, and financial management. He earned a master’s degree in accounting from University of Dhaka in 1987 and is a fellow of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
He also previously served as a member of the board of directors of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, adding to his experience in the country’s financial sector governance.
