Dhaka, Mar 3 (V7N) — British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook has expressed the United Kingdom’s strong interest in working closely with what she described as Bangladesh’s “new chapter,” indicating readiness to cooperate with the newly formed government under BNP leadership.

The High Commissioner made the remarks during a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on Tuesday morning (March 3).

Following the meeting, Sarah Cook reiterated the United Kingdom’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties. She emphasized that the partnership between the UK and Bangladesh remains deep and longstanding, and both sides are determined to expand cooperation in the coming days.

During the discussions, the two leaders reviewed the strength and depth of existing bilateral relations and agreed to broaden collaboration across multiple sectors. Key priority areas discussed included economic growth, migration, security cooperation, climate change initiatives, and engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.

Both Sarah Cook and Dr. Khalilur Rahman underscored the importance of enhanced coordination on shared interests. Referring to the UK’s historic and close partnership with Bangladesh, the High Commissioner noted that the two countries would continue to work closely, as they have in the past, as Bangladesh enters its new political phase.
