Dhaka, Mar 19 (V7N) — President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will offer Eid prayers at the National Eidgah Maidan. The main congregation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam informed reporters on Thursday morning after inspecting the preparations at the National Eidgah Maidan. He said this is the first Eid-ul-Fitr following the formation of the government through free, fair, and impartial elections. “This Eid congregation is very significant as Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has kindly agreed to offer prayers here. Ordinary worshippers will get the rare opportunity to pray alongside the President and the Prime Minister,” he added.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam said arrangements have been made for 35,000 worshippers, including 3,500 women. Separate entrances for women, reserved ablution and prayer facilities, and adequate medical support have been ensured. He added that while gates will be limited for security reasons, all will be opened promptly for a smooth exit after prayers.

Officials also noted that in case of adverse weather, the main Eid congregation will be moved to the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram at 9 am instead of the Eidgah Maidan.

Authorities are urging devotees to follow instructions and maintain order to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid congregation.
