Dhaka, May 22 (V7N)- Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam has said that maintaining cleanliness in the capital is possible if market and shop waste is properly stored in containers instead of being dumped on roads.
He made the remarks at a program organized to promote the use of jute bags and distribute awareness leaflets for sacrificial animal waste management at a restaurant on Elephant Road in Dhaka on Friday (May 22) morning.
Speaking at the event organized by the Elephant Road Society, the DSCC administrator said that both citizens and the city corporation must work together to ensure a clean city. He also urged political leaders and activists to stand by the people through service-oriented activities, saying they should begin public engagement ahead of any future elections.
He further said that to manage waste from sacrificial animals and protect the urban environment, the city corporation will distribute 46 tons of bleaching powder, 1,050 liters of Savlon, and around 140,000 waste bags across wards, with distribution already underway.
Criticizing the interim government, he claimed that measles-related deaths were occurring due to vaccination shortages and alleged that the government has set back national progress by 18 years within 18 months.
