Dhaka, May 24 (V7N) – The second day of the Eid travel rush witnessed a steady flow of passengers at Kamalapur Railway Station on Sunday morning as people continued leaving the capital to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their families.
Despite the seasonal surge, the situation remained largely calm with no major crowding or disorder reported. Many passengers opted to leave Dhaka early to avoid last-minute travel pressure ahead of the upcoming government holiday.
According to station authorities, at least six intercity trains departed for different destinations across the country since morning. Most trains operated close to their scheduled timings, and passengers reported a relatively smooth journey experience.
Special security arrangements were in place to ensure passenger safety. Law enforcement personnel were deployed across all platforms, and monitoring has been intensified to prevent unsafe practices such as rooftop travel.
Railway Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam said that five pairs of special trains—ten additional services in total—will be introduced from Monday to accommodate the growing passenger demand.
He added that he personally inspected the situation at the station, noting that overall management appeared satisfactory. However, he acknowledged that a few trains were delayed, including one by about 30 minutes and another by around an hour, and said efforts are underway to improve punctuality further.
