DHAKA, May 24, (V7N) -  President Mohammed Shahabuddin today paid rich tributes to National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on his 127th birth anniversary, declaring that the poet’s foundational principles of equality, humanity, rebellion, and profound love will continue to guide and inspire future generations.

In an official state message issued on the eve of the birth anniversary, the President characterized Nazrul as one of the most brilliant and enduring luminaries of Bengali literature and culture.

"Through his multifaceted creative genius as a poet, musician, novelist, playwright, essayist, and journalist, Nazrul made extraordinary, timeless contributions to the development of the Bengali language and literature," the President remarked.

The Head of State further emphasized that Nazrul served as the primary herald of national awakening, acting as a fearless voice against systemic exploitation, social deprivation, and political injustice.

The President noted that the poet's fiery literary works and emotional compositions continuously served as the structural backbone for the nation's historic democratic movements. These include the anti-British anti-colonial struggle, the Mass Uprising of 1969, the 1971 Liberation War, and the recent July mass uprising of 2024.

Expressing his optimistic vision for the country's future, President Shahabuddin stated that the nation will successfully build an equitable, just, and humane Bangladesh by remaining deeply anchored in Nazrul’s ideals, unwavering patriotism, personal honesty, and civic dedication.

The President concluded his message by offering solemn prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul of the National Poet.
