HABIGANJ, Aug 21 (V7N) — Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered six pistols, seven magazines and 22 rounds of ammunition from an underground cache in the remote and densely forested area of Satchari Reserve Forest in Habiganj.
The weapons and ammunition were recovered during a special operation based on confidential information at around 4:30am on Thursday in the area under Satchari Border Outpost.
According to 55 BGB, a special team led by Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Tanzilur Rahman conducted a search approximately three kilometres inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar No. 1978.
The team found the weapons and ammunition concealed underground in the rugged forest terrain.
BGB suspects that criminals may have hidden the weapons for use in robbery or other criminal activities.
Lieutenant Colonel Tanzilur Rahman said the recovered weapons and ammunition were being handed over to the police following due legal procedures. He added that intelligence operations were continuing to identify and apprehend those involved in concealing the arms.
