Dhaka, May 25 (V7N)- City dwellers continue to leave the capital in large numbers to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their families, causing heavy passenger pressure at Kamalapur Railway Station on the third day of the Eid journey, Monday (May 25).

Since early morning, a total of 10 intercity trains and 6 commuter trains have departed from the station. However, most trains are running slightly behind schedule due to increased passenger pressure.

Passengers have reported overcrowding inside trains, with many unable to board despite having tickets. Some passengers who managed to enter the trains also complained about a lack of seating arrangements.

Authorities said special security measures have been deployed to ensure a safe and orderly journey. Law enforcement personnel are stationed on every platform, and surveillance has been strengthened to prevent unsafe travel practices, including passengers attempting to ride on train roofs.

Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Md. Kabir Uddin said that most trains are operating close to schedule, although the Nilsagar Express departed approximately 40 minutes late. He also noted that no major passenger complaints have been officially received so far.

Rail authorities continue to monitor the situation as the Eid travel rush is expected to intensify in the coming days.
