DHAKA, May 25, (V7N) — Bangladesh’s head of state, President Mohammed Shahabuddin, will perform Eid-ul-Azha prayers alongside hundreds of worshippers at the National Eidgah, adjacent to the High Court, on May 28. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is also scheduled to attend the main congregation at 7:30 am.
The Chief Justice, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, lawmakers, senior political leaders, diplomats, and top civil and military officials are expected to join the prayers. Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, will lead the congregation.
A collective munajat will be offered, seeking divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and welfare of Bangladesh and the wider Muslim Ummah. Following the prayers, the President will exchange greetings with devotees.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is supervising the congregation, with special facilities arranged for women worshippers. Security has been tightened around the Eidgah premises.
If adverse weather prevents prayers at the Eidgah, the main jamaat will be relocated to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:00 am.
On arrival, the President will be received by the Chief Justice, cabinet members, DSCC officials, the divisional commissioner, registrar general of the Supreme Court, and the director general of the Islamic Foundation.
