Dhaka, May 27 (V7N)- Livestock traders in the capital are facing significant difficulties as heavy rainfall disrupts cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, creating muddy conditions and slowing down trade activity.
Due to continuous rain on Wednesday morning (May 27), waterlogging and mud accumulation were reported in several livestock markets across Dhaka, making it difficult for both buyers and sellers to move animals safely.
Traders said the muddy environment has severely affected animal care, transportation, and daily market operations, with some areas becoming nearly impossible to walk through.
As a result, buyer turnout remained low in many markets during the morning hours. Sellers fear that if the adverse weather continues throughout the day, they may incur heavy financial losses.
However, market participants remain hopeful that conditions will improve later in the day, bringing back customers ahead of Eid sacrifices.
Some traders also claimed that cattle prices have dropped by 10 to 20 percent compared to previous days due to reduced demand and weather-related disruptions.
