Dhaka, May 27 (V7N)- Even on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, thousands of city dwellers are continuing to leave the capital Dhaka with their families to celebrate the festival in their hometowns, despite heavy rain and travel difficulties.

At Kamalapur Railway Station, passenger pressure remained visible on Wednesday morning (May 27), although crowds slightly eased as the day progressed. Many passengers reported that they were unable to board trains despite holding valid tickets due to overcrowding inside the coaches.

Passengers also expressed frustration over alleged mismanagement by railway authorities, saying that overcrowding and lack of space inside trains caused significant suffering.

Despite the challenges, railway officials confirmed that all scheduled trains departed on time. However, passengers travelling on rooftops were severely affected by continuous rainfall throughout the morning.

Meanwhile, a large number of passengers were also seen at the Sadarghat Launch Terminal, where launches continued to depart with travelers heading home by river routes. The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) had briefly suspended launch operations in the morning due to adverse weather conditions but later resumed services with caution as conditions improved.

At bus terminals across the capital, passenger pressure was relatively lower compared to previous days, though complaints of overcharging persisted. Transport operators reported no major shortage of buses, but intermittent traffic congestion was observed at key entry and exit points of Dhaka city.

Despite the disruptions, many travelers said they were determined to reach home in time for Eid celebrations.
