Dhaka, May 28 (V7N)- The holy Eid-ul-Azha, one of the largest religious festivals of the Muslim community, is being celebrated across Bangladesh on Thursday (May 28) with due religious dignity, solemnity, and devotion.
After offering Eid prayers, Muslims across the country will sacrifice animals according to their ability in the hope of attaining the pleasure and blessings of Almighty Allah.
The significance of Eid-ul-Azha is deeply rooted in the unparalleled sacrifice and obedience of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his son Hazrat Ismail (AS). According to Islamic tradition, Allah Almighty commanded Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in a dream to sacrifice his most beloved possession. In complete submission to Allah’s command, he prepared to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS), who also willingly accepted the divine order with patience and faith.
When Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was about to carry out the sacrifice in the desert of Mina near Mecca, Almighty Allah replaced Ismail (AS) with a ram sent from Paradise, accepting their obedience and devotion. Muslims around the world commemorate this historic event every year through the ritual of Qurbani or sacrifice.
The philosophy of sacrifice is highlighted in the Holy Quran, where Allah says in Surah Al-Hajj, verse 37: “It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is your piety that reaches Him.” The essence of Eid-ul-Azha therefore lies in sincerity, sacrifice, and submission to the will of Allah.
Meanwhile, the main Eid congregation in the country is scheduled to be held at the National Eidgah Ground in Dhaka at 7:30 am. In case of adverse weather conditions, the main congregation will instead be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8:00 am.
In addition, five Eid congregations are being held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque this year. The congregations are scheduled for 7:00 am, 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 10:00 am, and 10:45 am.
