Dhaka, May 30 (V7N) — As the Eid-ul-Azha holidays gradually draw to a close, city dwellers have started returning to the capital, Dhaka. However, due to the extended holiday period, the pressure of return travel remains comparatively low.
With government offices, courts and private institutions scheduled to reopen from Monday, many people are choosing to return to the city ahead of time to avoid last-minute travel congestion.
At the same time, a reverse travel trend has also been observed. Many residents who were unable to travel to their hometowns during Eid are now leaving the capital with their families to spend time with relatives and loved ones.
A mixed flow of passengers was visible at Kamalapur Railway Station on Saturday. While one group of passengers arrived in Dhaka after celebrating Eid in their villages, another group was seen departing the city for various destinations across the country.
As a result, railway authorities witnessed steady activity from passengers travelling in both directions throughout the station.
Despite the movement of travelers, transport services remained largely smooth, with no major congestion reported at the railway station. Officials expect the volume of returning passengers to increase further over the next two days as people prepare to resume their regular work schedules after the holiday.
