Sylhet, Jul 07 (V7N) — Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury has announced that the Malaysian labour market has officially reopened for Bangladeshi workers from Monday (July 6).

He made the announcement while speaking at the Sylhet Circuit House on Tuesday afternoon.

The minister said the reopening of the Malaysian labour market marks a significant opportunity for Bangladeshi migrant workers and expressed optimism that more positive developments are on the way.

He added that encouraging news regarding employment opportunities in the Middle East, Japan and Mauritius is expected in the near future.

Earlier in the day, Ariful Haque Chowdhury paid a courtesy call on United States Ambassador Brent T. Christensen during an event marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

A cultural programme was also held in front of the historic Ali Amjad Clock in Sylhet, where Ambassador Christensen was present.

Following the event, the Expatriates' Welfare Minister discussed Bangladesh's overseas employment sector and highlighted the country's prospects for expanding labour markets abroad.
