On Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged exporters to exercise greater caution while returning funds intended for export and to preserve the equilibrium between imports and exports.

The 28th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) was opened by the prime minister at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BBCFEC) in Purbachal. The event lasted for one month.

In order to lessen reliance on a small number of destinations, she also emphasized the importance of looking for new markets and products for the export basket.

The chief of the ruling Awami League, Hasina, stated that the party had forecast export profits of USD 150 billion by 2030 in its manifesto for the January 7 election.

"We desperately need to keep import and export in balance. I'll beg everyone to consider that goal with greater caution," she declared.

She said that in order for Bangladesh to sell its goods around the world, it must get over a number of obstacles.

The prime minister also said that handicraft products would be the product of 2024 in the inaugural program.

We have limited time, so we must find new markets in order to do that. Above all, achieving a goal that has been set will be simple. We wish to operate in this manner," she remarked.

"To do that, we must search overseas for new goods as well as new customers and locations. We shouldn't rely just on one or two global markets, the speaker argued.

AHM Ahsan, the vice-chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam, Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Mahbubul Alam, all gave speeches during the event.

At the event, a video about the nation's export trade was shown.
