Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal stated that the police will take action against quota protesters if they exceed acceptable limits. Speaking to journalists at his Ministry of Home Affairs office on Thursday, he emphasized that any damage to property, acts of arson, or causing public distress will prompt police intervention.

He highlighted that the High Court's interest in hearing from the students negates the need for street protests. On June 5, the High Court deemed the circular canceling quotas, including those for freedom fighters, in first and second-class government jobs, illegal. Consequently, the 30% quota for freedom fighters remains intact.

On October 4, 2018, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a circular implementing the cabinet's decision to abolish the quota system for direct recruitment to first and second-class government posts. This decision followed a prolonged student movement demanding quota reform, leading the government to replace the 45% quota with merit-based recruitment.
