In response to alleged attacks by Chhatra League on students advocating for quota reform, the Students Against Discrimination movement has called for nationwide campus protests on Tuesday. Simultaneously, the ruling Awami League’s student wing plans its own demonstrations.

Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the student movement, outlined the protest plans during a press conference near Dhaka University’s Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall on Monday.

Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain, speaking later at the Raju Memorial Sculpture, announced his organization’s intention to hold protests at 1:30 pm on the same day at universities nationwide.

Tens of thousands of students across Bangladesh have been demonstrating for several days, demanding the replacement of quotas with a merit-based system for civil service jobs.
