Dhaka, July 28 — The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) uncovered a secret hideout of Jamaat-e-Islami in Dhanmondi on Saturday. During the raid, authorities seized 11 fresh bombs, indigenous weapons, Jihadi literature, and various organizational documents.

CTTC Chief Asaduzzaman revealed that Jamaat leaders had been plotting terrorist attacks under the guise of the anti-discrimination student movement from this location. The hideout was situated in a privately funded retirement building for retired government employees.

For the past 4-5 years, Jamaat's activities in the Dhaka metropolis had been orchestrated from this hideout, evading detection. The discovery came after detectives interrogated Jamaat-Shibir leaders arrested in recent raids.

CTTC Chief Asaduzzaman stated, "During the raid, we recovered 11 fresh bombs, local weapons, and Jihadi books. The four-storey flat was rented as an office for Jamaat, keeping their activities and identities hidden."

The CTTC also noted that the hideout played a central role in planning and managing the chaos in Dhanmondi and across the capital during the anti-discrimination student movement. The premises were discreetly located, posing as a lawyer's office, which helped maintain its secrecy despite being situated opposite the Awami League president's office.

Authorities are now searching for the financiers who supported Jamaat's activities from this hideout.
