Dhaka, August 3- The police have heightened security measures in Dhaka ahead of today’s protest organized by the anti-discrimination student movement focusing on quota reform. Early Saturday morning, police were visibly present around key areas including Pragati Sarani, Jamuna Future Park, and Bashundhara Gate.

Specialized police teams have been deployed to manage security and oversee the protests. The student movement plans to hold demonstrations in neighborhoods and locations nationwide today, with a comprehensive non-cooperation program set to begin tomorrow.

The protests, which have intensified since July 16, have resulted in significant unrest. The government has confirmed at least 150 deaths related to the quota reform movement, though various media sources suggest the number could exceed 200. The increased police presence aims to ensure public safety amid these ongoing demonstrations.
