Dhaka, August 3- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered the release of ordinary students detained during the recent violence related to the quota reform movement. Speaking at a meeting with the Professional Coordination Council at Ganobhaban on Saturday, she emphasized that all perpetrators of violence, including those involved in the murder of student Abu Saeed from Rangpur Rokeya University, will be prosecuted. The policeman implicated in Saeed’s death has been dismissed, with further action pending investigation.

The Prime Minister also reiterated her offer to engage in dialogue with the agitating students, assuring them that the doors of Ganobhaban are always open for discussions. This comes amid nationwide protests organized by the anti-discrimination student movement, which has called for all-out non-cooperation starting Sunday.

In a separate development, Prime Minister Hasina announced the cancellation of the proposed pension system for universities, autonomous institutions, and government entities, following significant opposition from educators. The scheme, introduced on July 1, aimed to provide a universal pension system but faced backlash leading to its revocation.

Earlier in the week, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina assigned a three-member team of party leaders to engage with the student movement’s coordinators. The team includes Awami League Presidium Member Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, and AFM Bahauddin Nashim, with a mandate to address the students' concerns and involve senior leaders from the 14-party alliance.
