Dhaka, August 4— Protestors wielding bricks and sticks attempted to break through the main entrance gate of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court around 11 a.m. on Sunday. The incident occurred during a protest march in Old Dhaka, where agitators chanted slogans of "Bhua Bhua" and carried sticks.

In response, police deployed tear gas and sound grenades to disperse the crowd and regain control of the situation. Following this confrontation, the protestors moved towards Raisaheb Bazar, vandalizing a police car along the way.

This escalation comes after an earlier attack on the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital, the country's leading medical education institution. The attack, carried out by participants in the non-cooperation movement demanding the government's resignation, involved vandalism and the burning of several buses at the hospital site.

The non-cooperation movement, which began as a response to various grievances, including the demand for quota reforms in government jobs, has seen a rise in violent incidents, causing concern among authorities and the public. The government has called for calm and restraint, but tensions remain high as protests continue across the capital and beyond.
