Dhaka, August 9 — Global leaders have extended their congratulations and support to Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who recently assumed the role of chief advisor of Bangladesh's interim government.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken welcomed Dr. Yunus's swearing-in, expressing America's readiness to assist Bangladesh during this transition. In a social media post on Friday, Blinken stated, "The United States supports Yunus' call for calm and peace and is committed to working with Bangladesh." He emphasized the shared aspiration of the Bangladeshi people for a democratic and prosperous future.

China also welcomed the formation of the interim government led by Yunus. A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed China's commitment to mutual cooperation, emphasizing the nation's respect for Bangladesh's sovereignty and the development path chosen by its people. "China has seen that Bangladesh has formed an interim government and we welcome it," the spokesperson said, noting China's policy of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.

Additionally, First Lady of Turkey, Emine Erdoğan, and the United Nations also extended their congratulations. UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haque announced the UN's readiness to assist the interim government and the people of Bangladesh if needed.

These international endorsements underscore the global significance of Bangladesh's current political transition and the widespread support for Dr. Yunus's leadership during this pivotal time.
