Abu Saeed, a 12th batch student at Begum Rokeya University, was one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination quota movement. He was tragically killed during a clash between police and members of the Chhatra League on July 16, 2024, near the university premises. The incident occurred during a protest demanding quota reforms, resulting in a violent confrontation.

Abu Saeed was the youngest of nine siblings and the son of Maqbul Hossain, a resident of Babanpur village in Madankhali Union, Pirganj Upazila, Rangpur. His death has sparked significant outcry and further intensified the ongoing debate surrounding the quota reform movement in Bangladesh.
