Dhaka, August 30- The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a ban on all forms of gatherings, processions, and demonstrations near key judicial buildings and areas, effective from Friday, August 30, 2024, until further notice.
In a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan, it was announced that all kinds of meetings, gatherings, processions, and demonstrations have been prohibited on the roads adjacent to the Chief Justice's official residence, Justice Bhavan, the Judges Complex, the main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, and Matsya Bhavan.
The notice states that this decision has been taken "in view of the recent situation" to maintain public order and safety. The restrictions are enforced under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76), which empowers the police to regulate assemblies and processions in the interest of public safety and order.
The DMP urges the public to comply with the new restrictions and avoid the specified areas to ensure a peaceful environment around these sensitive zones. The duration of the ban has not been specified, and it will remain in effect until further orders are issued by the authorities.
