Dhaka, September 02- The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has reported that the death toll from the recent floods in Bangladesh has risen to 67, with 26 fatalities in the Feni district alone. This information was disclosed in the ministry's latest update on Monday.
Affected Areas and Current Situation:
The floods have impacted 11 districts: Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur, and Cox's Bazar. While the flood situation has returned to normal in Chittagong, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Sylhet, Brahmanbaria, and Cox's Bazar, conditions in Moulvibazar have improved significantly. The flood situation in Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur is also gradually improving.
A total of 68 upazilas have been flooded, affecting 504 unions and municipalities, with 605,767 families currently experiencing waterlogged conditions.

The floods began on August 20, triggered by strong upstream currents and heavy rainfall, affecting Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur, and Cox's Bazar.
Infrastructure Damage:
According to the Directorate of Local Government Engineering, the floods have caused significant damage, including:
Roads: 7,722 kilometres initially damaged; 51 kilometres repaired so far.
Bridges and Culverts: 1,011 damaged; 96 repaired so far.
To assist the affected population, a total of 3,615 shelters have been opened, accommodating 36,741 people and 32,830 cattle. In addition, 472 medical teams are currently active, providing medical services to flood victims across the 11 affected districts.
The government and various relief agencies continue to monitor the situation and provide necessary assistance to the flood-affected areas.
