Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N)- The government has appointed new deputy commissioners (DCs) for 25 districts, including Dhaka and Chittagong, according to a gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday.

The districts receiving new DCs include Gopalganj, Faridpur, Sylhet, Habiganj, Mymensingh, Sherpur, Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Magura, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Naogaon, Natore, Pabna, Joypurhat, Cox’s Bazar, Bogra, Noakhali, Chandpur, Gazipur, Comilla, Moulvibazar, and Khulna.

Among the key appointments, Tanvir Ahmed, deputy secretary of the Cabinet Division, is the new DC of Dhaka, and Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Mollah, deputy secretary attached to the Economic Relations Division, has been assigned to Faridpur. Other significant appointments include PKM Enamul Kabir to Sylhet, Dr. Md Faridur Rahman to Habiganj, Mufidul Alam to Mymensingh, and Farhana Islam to Kushtia.

Further appointments include Md Saiduzzaman as DC of Joypurhat, Mohammad Salahuddin as DC of Cox’s Bazar, Farida Khanom as DC of Chittagong, and Estiaque Ahmed as DC of Noakhali. Several other districts such as Chandpur, Gazipur, and Comilla have also received new appointments.

This reshuffling follows the formation of an interim government on August 8, after the resignation of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5. Subsequently, 25 DCs appointed during the Awami League’s tenure were withdrawn on August 20.

The Ministry of Public Administration conducted oral examinations in recent days to finalize the fit list for these new DC appointments.
