Dhaka, Sep 16 (V7N) – Today, the nation observes Miladunnabi (PBUH), marking the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 570 AD. This day, celebrated as a public holiday, commemorates the life and teachings of the Prophet, who was born in the noble Quraish clan in Mecca to mother Amina. The Prophet (PBUH) is revered as a mercy to humankind, sent by Almighty Allah to guide humanity from darkness into light.

President Mohammad Sahabuddin and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus extended their separate messages to the nation, urging all to reflect on the Prophet's teachings of peace, compassion, and unity.

The celebration comes at a time when the Prophet’s message of liberation from ignorance and idolatry resonates deeply, reminding believers of the transformative role he played in Arabian society. During a time known as the Age of Ignorance, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) brought the message of Allah to a people lost in quarrels and idol worship. Through divine guidance, he led them toward righteousness, paving the way for the spread of Islam.

Various programs have been undertaken by the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh to mark the occasion with religious solemnity. Events include discussions on the life of the Prophet (PBUH), Milad and Dua Mahfils, seminars, and Islamic cultural competitions. Special meals will be served in hospitals, prisons, government children’s homes, and old age homes in celebration of Miladunnabi (PBUH).

On Sunday evening, AFM Khalid Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, inaugurated the event at the east gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The program includes Quran recitations, Hamd and Na’at performances, poetry recitations, an Islamic calligraphy exhibition, an Islamic book fair, and special memorabilia.

The Islamic Foundation has also extended these activities across its divisional and district offices, 54 Islamic missions, and eight Imam training academies nationwide.

The observance of Miladunnabi (PBUH) is not just a day of reflection, but an opportunity for Muslims in Bangladesh and across the world to reaffirm their commitment to the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH), which advocate for peace, unity, and the worship of one Creator.
