Dhaka, Dec 09 (V7N) – The government has approved the redesign of Tk20, Tk100, Tk500, and Tk1000 banknotes, showcasing cultural heritage and iconic monuments.

The decision was finalized during a Bangladesh Bank board meeting on Sunday, presided over by Governor Dr. Ahsan H Mansur. Executive Director and spokesperson Husne Ara Shikha confirmed the development.

The redesigned notes will feature updated imagery reflecting Bangladesh's religious monuments, cultural heritage, and symbols from the July uprising graffiti. The portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will no longer be included in these denominations.

Shikha stated that with all necessary approvals from both the central bank and the government, the printing process for the new notes is already underway. The updated banknotes are expected to enter circulation within six months.
