DHAKA, April 9, 2026 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a weather forecast for the next 24 hours, predicting rain and thunderstorms across various regions of the country, beginning at 9:00 AM today.
Rain and Thunderstorms: Rain and thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes, are expected to occur at a few places over the Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. Isolated hailstorms are also forecast at some locations.
Temperature Changes: The day temperature is likely to drop by 1-2°C, and the night temperature may fall slightly across the country.
Temperature Records: On Wednesday, the highest temperature recorded was 35.6°C in Rangamati, while today’s minimum temperature is 17.9°C in Tetulia.
Sunrise and Sunset: The sun will set at 6:18 PM today and rise at 5:42 AM tomorrow in Dhaka.
Pollution Levels: Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, was ranked 8th among the world’s most polluted cities on Thursday morning, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 127 at 9:20 AM. The air was classified as "unhealthy for sensitive groups," which means it may pose health risks to more vulnerable individuals, such as those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.
Global Comparison: The most polluted cities included Chiang Mai (Thailand) with an AQI of 170, Karachi (Pakistan) at 165, and Hanoi (Vietnam) at 163.
