Dhaka, July 18 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast that the ongoing monsoon activity will keep rain widespread across the country for the next 120 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several areas, particularly in Rangpur Division.

The forecast, issued on Saturday by Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick, said the current rainfall pattern is likely to continue over the next five days.

According to the forecast, from 9:00 am Saturday to 9:00 am Sunday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely in most places of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and in many places of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. Some areas of Rangpur Division may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

From Sunday morning to Monday morning, similar weather conditions are expected to continue, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers in most parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet, and many places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in some parts of the country, while temperatures are expected to remain almost unchanged.

The forecast for Monday indicates that light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds are likely in most places across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in some areas, while both daytime and nighttime temperatures may decrease slightly.

On Tuesday, rain or thundershowers are expected to continue across most parts of the country, with moderate to heavy and locally very heavy rainfall likely in some places. Daytime temperatures may fall slightly, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

The same weather pattern is forecast for Wednesday, with widespread rain or thundershowers and the possibility of moderate to very heavy rainfall in parts of the country. Both day and night temperatures are likely to remain almost unchanged.

The Meteorological Department has advised the public to remain cautious, as the active monsoon is expected to keep rainfall widespread throughout the coming five days.
