Flood-affected residents in Kurigram are struggling as water levels of 16 rivers, including the Brahmaputra, Dharla, Teesta, and Dudhkumar, continue to rise, leaving many without government relief. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saidul Arif reported alarming water levels at key points, affecting over 135,000 people across nine upazilas.
Local representatives estimate the number of stranded individuals to exceed 200,000, with significant damage to homes, education, and croplands. Despite efforts, the relief provided has been insufficient, with many families taking refuge on boats and seeking safety elsewhere.
