Dhaka, Feb 18 (V7N) – The International Crimes Tribunal has extended the deadline for completing the investigation into the case filed against Sheikh Hasina and 47 others for crimes against humanity during the July-August massacre. The tribunal has now set April 20 as the next hearing date.
A three-member tribunal, led by Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order on Tuesday, following a request from the prosecution for additional time to complete the investigation.
On December 17, the tribunal had initially ordered the completion of the investigation within two months against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 46 others in two cases related to alleged crimes against humanity during the July-August genocide. However, the prosecution, represented by Additional Chief Prosecutor Mizanul Islam, informed the court that more time was needed to finalize the report.
The tribunal acknowledged the request and granted an extension, instructing the investigators to submit their findings before the next hearing in April.
This case continues to be a high-profile legal battle, with significant political and judicial implications.
