Dhaka, July 27 (V7N) – The hearing for framing charges against 30 accused in the murder of Abu Sayeed, the first martyr of the July mass uprising, is set to take place today at the International Crimes Tribunal-2.
The prosecution has indicated that it will submit a formal application seeking the commencement of the trial proceedings against all the accused.
Among the accused, six individuals, including four who are currently in custody, have been produced before the tribunal. These include:

Shariful Islam, former proctor of Begum Rokeya University (Berobi),

Amir Hossain, former Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police,
-
Sujan Chandra Roy, a police constable, and
-
Imran Chowdhury, a leader of the Chhatra League.
The formal complaint in the case was filed by the prosecution on June 30, and the tribunal took the charges into consideration on the same day.
On July 22, the tribunal declared 24 of the 30 accused as absconding, including the former Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University and the former Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner.
In parallel developments, eight other individuals have also been presented before the tribunal in a separate case concerning the burning of six bodies in Ashulia, while three others are facing trial in connection with a triple murder case in Lakshmipur.
The murder of Abu Sayeed has become a symbol of the July uprising, sparking demands for justice and accountability across the country.
