Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N) – The prosecution has filed a formal charge sheet against four people, including Awami League leader Mahbubul Alam Hanif, in a case of crimes against humanity committed in Kushtia during the July incidents. The charges include three counts, among them the killing of six people.
The case is scheduled for hearing at the International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Sunday (October 5). During the hearing, the prosecution will also submit a petition seeking arrest warrants for the absconding accused, according to tribunal sources.
Meanwhile, at the International Crimes Tribunal-1, the ninth day of testimony in another crimes against humanity case — concerning the shooting deaths of six people, including Shaheed Anas, in Chankharpul, Dhaka, during the July–August movement — is also being held today.
Three witnesses are set to testify before the tribunal. Earlier, testimony and cross-examination of three other witnesses were completed on September 25, the eighth day of hearings. So far, 17 witnesses, including eyewitnesses and members of the police, have given their statements in this case.
In another development, eight accused, including former NTMC Director General Ziaul Ahsan and Abdullah Hill Kafi, were produced before the tribunal this morning in connection with a separate case related to the July–August genocide and crimes against humanity.
Additionally, four more accused were presented before the International Crimes Tribunal today in various other cases of crimes against humanity currently under trial.
