Dhaka, Oct 23 (V7N) — The prosecution is set to present its final arguments in the crimes against humanity case against Sheikh Hasina and three others at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Thursday (October 23). The tribunal is expected to announce a date for the verdict following the arguments.

On Wednesday (October 22), the defense completed their closing submissions, after which the prosecution began its rebuttal. In continuation, the Chief Prosecutor will present the final statement today, with the Attorney General also scheduled to address the tribunal.

According to case documents, 54 witnesses — including families of martyrs, the injured, and doctors — testified, revealing accounts of genocide, disappearances, and torture during the Awami League regime.

Among the witnesses was Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) during the July–August genocide, who provided detailed testimony on the sequence of events and identified those responsible for ordering and executing the atrocities.

Prosecutors stated that the evidence presented is sufficient to establish the accused’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt, emphasizing that the crimes committed “would be punishable in any court of law in the world.”
