Mongla, July 9 (V7N)– Allegations have been raised against two notorious brokers, Farazi Alam and Gaus Fakir, in Mongla for fraudulently taking possession of 1.20 acres of agricultural land belonging to a widow. They reportedly used deceit and forgery to register the land in their names under the pretense of selling it.

The widow, Renuara Begum, sought the court's help to reclaim her land in the Burirdanga and Kapalimath areas of Mongla. In retaliation, the fraudulent brokers have threatened her life.

At a press conference held at Mongla Press Club at noon on Tuesday (July 9), Renuara Begum's daughter, Nasrum Alam, brought these allegations to light. She informed journalists that the 1.20 acres of agricultural land, given to her mother by her late father, Peyar Ahmed, had been lying unused in the Digraraj area for a long time. When her mother needed money, she decided to sell the land in Burirdanga and Kapalimath Mouza. She contacted the well-known local land brokers Farazi Alam, also known as Haji Alam, and Gaus Fakir.

Following their advice, her mother registered the land under sale power deeds on December 11 and 28, 2023, for plots 3120 and 3257. However, taking advantage of her mother's simplicity, the brokers forged documents and registered the land in their names. Upon discovering this fraud, her mother filed a civil case (No. 9/24) in Bagerhat's Joint District Judge's Court to cancel the sale power. This enraged the fraudulent brokers, Farazi Alam and Gaus Fakir, who then issued various death threats to her mother.

Attempts to contact Gaus Fakir for his comments were unsuccessful as he did not answer multiple calls. However, Farazi Alam denied the allegations, stating that Renuara Begum had given the sale power to two individuals, Mahmud Hasan and Sarafat Hasan Shakil, through him. He claimed that he bought 5.5 decimals of land, Gaus Fakir bought 51 decimals, and a person named Selim Molla bought 5.5 decimals from these individuals. Farazi Alam asserted that the allegations against them were entirely false.
