Habiganj, Sept. 19 (V7N) — The home of Bangladesh Bank Additional Director Mohsinur Rahman Murshed was burglarized in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district late Friday night, with cash, gold jewelry and other valuables reportedly stolen.
The incident took place at his residence in Uttar Shik village of Bohora Union, according to local sources.
The burglars allegedly broke through a ventilator to enter the house and took cash, gold jewelry, an IPS backup power system, a television and other valuables.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the incident, as Murshed lives in Dhaka with his family. His younger brother, Mishu, is a Polish citizen, and the residence often remains vacant, local residents said.
The burglary has caused concern in the area. Police from Madhabpur Police Station visited the scene after being informed of the incident.
The exact value of the stolen goods and the total extent of the losses were not immediately known.
Madhabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sohel Rana said police were sent to the scene after receiving the information. He said the incident was being investigated and necessary legal action would be taken.
