Cox’s Bazar , Nov 17 (V7N) - Faizul Azim Noman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model police station, has been removed from his post just two months after his appointment. A notification issued on Sunday transferred him to the Chittagong Range and attached him to the office of the Chittagong Division’s DIG, Ahsan Habib Palash, pending further instructions.

Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent Mohammad Rahmat Ullah confirmed the withdrawal, stating that Faizul Azim would immediately vacate his position.

Appointed on September 19, following the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, OC Faizul faced several allegations, including bribery, case manipulation, and failing to address cases related to attacks and murders during the movement. He was also accused of setting up an unauthorized relaxation room at the station and maintaining connections with local Awami League leaders before August 5.

Further scrutiny arose following a pirate attack on November 7, when a fishing boat, Allah’s Doa-3, was targeted at Sonadia point in the Bay of Bengal. The boat’s helmsman, Mokarram from Kutubdia, was killed, and 19 fishermen were abducted but later released after the pirates disabled the boat's engine. Rescued by another fishing vessel five days later, the fishermen returned to shore on Sunday.

Despite having no role in the rescue operation, OC Faizul held a press briefing on Tuesday, claiming that police raids had forced the pirates to release the abductees.

The incident, coupled with media reports of corruption and administrative mismanagement, has cast a shadow on his tenure, leading to his abrupt transfer.
