Khulna, Nov 27 (V7N)- A meeting in memory of the injured and martyrs of the mass uprising of students and the public in July-August 2024 was held at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium today (Wednesday) morning. Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Mahmud Sharif was the chief guest at the memorial meeting organized by the Khulna District Administration.
 
At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the injured and martyrs of the mass uprising of students and the public in July-August and a special prayer was held at the end of the program.
 
At the memorial meeting, the chief guest, the Divisional Commissioner, said, the people of the country got a new Bangladesh in the coordinated mass uprising of students and the public in July-August. Building a new Bangladesh according to the intentions of the people is now everyone's responsibility. A new chapter has begun in the mass uprising. We want a modern and non-discriminatory society.  There can be no discrimination in Bangladesh. He further said that the struggle against any adversity is a traditional tradition of the people and we have seen this from time immemorial. It is not possible for everyone to participate in all movements. Those who participate in the movement act as beacons and show the way to others. May the sacrifices of all those who gave their lives in the mass uprising, made sacrifices, suffered hardships and mothers who lost their children be successful. May we all build a beautiful Bangladesh, a beautiful society and a beautiful world.
 
Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Zulfiqar Ali Haider, Range DIG Md. Rezaul Haque, Police Superintendent T M Mosharraf Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Shafiqul Islam and Nurnahar, mother of Shaheed Shakib Raihan, a member of the family of the martyred in the mass uprising, were special guests at the memorial service. Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the event. Freedom fighter Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Imam Parishad General Secretary Maulana Golam Kibria, journalists Sheikh Didarul Alam, Ehteshamul Haque Shaon, injured student Jibon Howlader, Khulna University student Al-Shahriar, BL College student Shahriar Saad, Lamia Akhter and others spoke at the event.
 
Officials of various government and private departments, freedom fighters, injured and martyred family members and students of various schools and colleges were present at the memorial service.
