Cox’s Bazar, Feb 10 (V7N) - As part of the nationwide Operation Devil Hunt, police have arrested two leaders of the Sainik League and the banned Chhatra League from Pekua and Kutubdia upazilas of Cox’s Bazar.
The arrested individuals are:
Md. Forkan, President of Rajakhali Union Sainik League, Pekua Upazila, and son of Abul Hoshen of Tekghona Para.
Md. Tuhin, leader of the banned Chhatra League, and son of Manjur Alam of Wapda Para, Baraghop Union, Kutubdia Upazila.
Confirming the incident, Pekua Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sirajul Mostafa stated that Md. Forkan was arrested while in hiding during a police raid in the early hours of February 10.
Similarly, Kutubdia Police Station OC Arman Hossain confirmed that Md. Tuhin was arrested from his home during a raid on the night of February 10. He is an accused in a case related to an attack on students during the anti-discrimination movement in Kutubdia.
OC Arman Hossain further stated, "Tuhin is an accused in a case involving attacks on students and the public during the July Movement. The police had been tracking him for a long time. Acting on intelligence that he had returned home from hiding, a police team led by me conducted a raid and arrested him."
